ABOUT US
The Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA) is a voluntary, non-profit organisation which enables people with a common interest in public administration and public sector reform to exchange ideas on trends, practices and innovations in public administration. IPAA is represented in each State and Territory. In the Territory, our members encompass local, territory and commonwealth government as well as private enterprises. The Young Professionals Network (YPN) is a sub committee of IPAA NT. YPN NT aims to provide a forum for professional development and network building opportunities for the young and young at heart within the public and private sectors.
HISTORY
In 1980 the State and Territory divisions formally joined together to establish a National Council of IPAA. The new national council provided the opportunity to establish a stronger national profile and to offer individual IPAA members a professional association promoting excellence in public administration across Australia. Each division tailors many IPAA activities to the market conditions in each area, while providing the day to day services that members are looking for.
AIM / MISSION
The aim of IPAA as a professional association is to promote good governance and excellence in public administration in Australia. The Northern Territory Division is a voluntary, non-profit professional association of public sector employees, academics, students and other persons with a common interest in public administration and public sector reform, promoting and exchanging ideas on trends, practices and innovations in public administration.
IPAA NT’s main objectives are:
- To support the principles of public administration;
- To encourage professional development by supporting activities which recognise excellence in public administration and co-operating, where practical, with other professional bodies;
- To support National Council initiatives;
- To maintain and grow membership levels;
- To conduct a program of events throughout the year to promote public administration and professional development;
- To promote the objectives of the Institute in regional and remote areas of the Territory;
